Anyone have some information on this barn find? Was told it is a 1932-34 accessory. Have only found one photo of this exact version. Any help in further identifying would be great. Thanks!

Maybe for a Lincoln, the cap wouldn't fit a 33 or 34 Ford. possibly a 32 but the cap itself is different from a 32, I know there were several aftermarket options for the Greyhound

I'm probably wrong, but it looks like someone took an existing locking gas cap and modified it to accept the greyhound. ???? Why? I have no earthly idea. That's just what it looks like.

Certainly not Lincoln. Those were super-detailed bronze castings by Gorham, the jewelers, all with free-standing tails.

Every Pep Boys/Western Auto type catalog of this general period carried several greyhounds, almost always bolt-through ones like the one pictured rather than the integral type Ford used in '34. They came in all levels of quality, and there were even small ones to bolt to bicycle fenders.
Ford only had one available for '34, and other years are certainly aftermarket. Modern resto aftermarket made them integral with cap for several years of Fords that never had a Ford accessory offered. The '34 originals can be spotted by the free-standing tail, which is nearly always broken off!
