1932 3 Window Coupe Doors

New guy "32 TUDOR" posted this question on the "questions & suggestions" forum. I figure it's interesting so I'm reposting it here:

Anyone ever hear or see a 32 3 Window being produced with standard, not suicide doors? Thanks

My response: I haven't heard or seen one, but my brother sketched one out recently. His concept was to use a five window coupe and cut in Tudor doors and blank out anything that would be left of the quarter windows. Could make for a handsome car.

I have seen a British Tudor with suicide doors. But not a three door with standard. I like the suicide doors better

Thanks for the responses, and I'm sure there will be more. I saw one advertised for sale and the picture is a 3 window but the doors are hinged on front. When I questioned the seller about this configuration his response was
"The doors on this car were originally not suicide doors, Lots of people restore them with suicide doors this was done more original."
The grille shell, gas tank, fenders were all 32 Ford but the body might have been a Dodge or Plymouth. I have never seen or heard of a 3 Window built that way but they did some odd things back then and didn't necessarily document them.

Regards
Gary

No such animal; all the '32 deluxe coupe (the so-called 3-window) doors hinged at the rear and all '32 standard coupe (i.e. the so-called 5-window) doors hinged at the front.

Many years ago in the Upstate NY area there was a 3w that had conventional doors only problem was it was a Tudor sedan that was made into a coupe. I'm sure that this car is still floating around.

The fronts of the 32 3w doors are not vertical. They are sloping back. If you hinged on that line the doors would open up as they open out and would tend to slam shut. A bit of a silly question really.

Mart.
