1931 wide bed Pick up questions..

what i have is a late 1930 closed cab pick up... the bed that came with the truck is a 31 wide bed(total score), and it's in great shape... the fenders and splash aprons are also late 30/31 (one piece splash aprons) the truck came in pieces and i'm in the middle of a mock up stage..

this may be a HAMB inquiry, seeing as i'm turning this truck into a full fendered late 50's hot rod work truck..but...
knowing what the truck had stock, and how it fit will make it easier to modify...

what is the deal with the back fenders??
i know the wide bed had narrower fenders, but was there a difference in the area where it mounts to the running and splash aprons?
it seems like there is.. since my narrow bed fenders don't line up with the splash aprons that i have-

are splash aprons for a truck the same as other models?

right now the nose, cab, front fenders, running board and splash aprons are all installed on the frame.. the bed is just placed on the frame (originally i was going to build this fenderless, but i changed my mind ..now i gotta change the Z!)

i have the splash aprons laying on the frame, then the body blocks between the cab and and splash aprons..
as it sits there is a space between the cab and splash aprons... it looks weird, like in a bad fit way... what am i doing wrong?

i realize photo's would help... i can upload some tomorrow...

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance-

Nothing is wrong, the space is meant to be there. As I recall the splashes are the same at the fender connection just the fenders are different. My wide bed fenders were created from the original part that bolted to the bed being cut off and a pair of fender outers welded to them.

my splash aprons aren't in the best shape.. they are rotted out right where the apron fits to the running board(the lip) so they don't fit the best... i'm trying to get everything from the running cab forward to fit as snug as possible...this way i'll have a good idea as to what i need to fabricate in order for regular (narrow bed) fenders to work.... as you know wide bed fenders aren't the easiest parts to find-

as far as the splash aprons go the space that is there seems to be abit too much, i'll post some pictures tomorrow.

thanks
