Hi everyone,

I was working on the headlights/taillights this morning and the switch on the steering wheel (where the horn button is) kind of popped up , is now just spinning around, I checked the clipat the bottom and it is still on OK. It looks like it isdisconnected fromthe rod at the top? Easy fix?

Thanks,
Jim

Not a fun job. I would rather go to the dentist than mess the light bail. To reinstall the little horseshoe clip you may have to bend the legs in a tad. You need someone to hold the horn button down. You can also weave a hardstick through the steering wheel to hold it down (pull the fuse, or disconnect the battery cable first). Push the little grabber that rotates the the light switch inside the bail up against the spring and reinsert the clip. Before doing that you have to determine where the lever on the steering wheel for the lights are located. When you get into it you will figure it out. Frustrating task!

Looks like you may have to pull the horn rod out. I have never run into such a situation. A note of caution you cannot pull the rod out in a closed car. The horn end will hit the roof first. If you try to put a little English on it you will warp it into a curve and when reinstalled everytime you turn the wheel the lights will go on. Voice of experience. You have to unbolt the steering box and drop it down to the floor.
