Ho Guys,

Anybody have any tips for installing the upper rubber bumpers the rumble lid lays on when closed on a 1931 roadster. I have tried to twist them in but don't want to damage the paint if I can help it.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I think if you warm the rubber bumpers in some boiling water it will make them more flexible. Also a little K-Y Jelly or other water soluble lubricant will help them slip into place. When I installed the ones on my 28 coupe, it wasn't real easy, but I got them installed.

wrndln I just tried your tip with hot water and vaseline and was able to force them most of the way in and then used a small screw driver to push the last part of the lip into the mounting hole.

Bill your secret is safe with me as I contemplated taking a small coping saw to mine and doing a cross cut to relieve them a bit so they would go in easier!

If you guys know the order in which the hinge bolt/square washer/square washer/flat washer/nut go through the hinge mount and through the hinge I could use that info as well.

Thanks.
