If it is a factory 31 deluxe coupe, it had cowl lights, and so would have one bulb headlamps. Having said that, it is your choice, unless you are planning to do fine point blue ribbon judging. I know a guy who uses his cowl lights for turn signals, and has two bulb headlamps, to get a parking beam in the headlamp.

It's a one-bulb unit, like 2manycars says.
As far as turn signals in the headlights, have some one flash a small yellow light at you while at the same time shining a mag light in your eye and you'll see why that's probably not the best solution.
If you don't ever drive with your headlights on, it might be OK.
I'm actually off to the garage to finish the turn signal installation I started last night. I'm using the cowl lights. Need to remember to get yellow bulbs.

Using the parking lamps in the headlights and the cowl lights for directionals has worked well for me. The cowl lights are much more visible when used as directionals. I agree the parking bulbs in the headlights are a bad choice for directionals. My rear directional lights are separate too and it makes the directionals a stand alone simple system.

You mean like 95% of the modern cars on the highway?

If you look closely, most new cars that have daytime running lights (law here in Canada) actually turn the headlight off on the side that the signal is operating. It comes right back on once the signal is cancelled.

I run turn signals in my headlights and they work very well. All I did was put a brighter bulb in. You can't believe just how well they show up. Try it before you go to your cowl lamps.

I guess all my modern cars are in the 5%. Our directionals are seen next to the headlamp with its own reflector that can be seen outside of the headlamp beam, not in the headlamp using the same reflector.
