1931 Coupe Wood Front Header

A few questions about these original wood header.

1) Are these headers normally two separate pieces of wood?
(see pictures where I sat one board on top of car.)

Should they be glued together?

2) There is only one bolt through hole where the Les Andrews shows three.
I'm going to go ahead and drill the other two for bolts.

Anyone see a problem with me drilling the other holes? (Les Andrews picture attached)

3) I also don't have a door header dovetail on the corner of my header. Im guessing this is also ok since this is an original header. Maybe certain years of cars didn't have the dovetail?

Thanks for any candor...

:D I thought the same thing. I'm guessing my car was assembled on a Friday right before Christmas break. My car could be in Johnny Cash's video One Piece at a Time. Well it's a 27,28,29,30, 31 automobile.

Here is a picture of my side top rails with my new rails.
They were also just numerous boards with the bolts holding them together.
Could have been a shortage of larger solid wood so they used scrap?
