1931 Blindback Numbers

Good afternoon...
Does anyone have a solid count of straight windshield vs. slant windshield
for 1931 blindbacks? I just bought a Briggs straight windshield and I know that the production was ended in April (?) when the slant windshields were introduced. Thanks!

The slant windshield cars came following the 190-A Victoria in the last quarter of 1930. The Victoria was the 1st Model A to have the slant windshield.

Madnick,

If I'm reading the George DeAnglis 'brown' book correctly, there were only 700 straight windshield 1931 sedans produced, making them 'rarer' than a Town car .

I doubt that number of straight windshield Fordors is correct. Maybe Steve Plucker will shed some light on this topic.

The poster asked about 1931 straight windshield Briggs Fordor production. I'm ASSUMING he means the following.

Quoting from Geo. DeAngelis (p. 163 1971 Edition)

"The new two window Deluxe Sedan, the 170-B.....The straight windshield two window sedan...was phased out in April 1931"
"Production figures show that 12,654 DeLuxe Sedans were built in 1930 and only 740 in 1931"

Thank you for your input. I was very fortunate to recently purchase a 1931 Briggs from the estate of a dear friend. It was a toss up between this and a ‘31 slant window. Both cars were older restorations. Both in very good condition, being in climate controlled storage for the past 20+ years. I had heard that the Blindback might be a low production number for 1931, but could not find definitive numbers.

Madnick, Looks like you bought a nice Blindback.

If you lift the carpet on the passenger side in front of the front seat, there might be a Briggs body tag nailed to the wooden floor sill. If not there it might be under the hood attached below the Patent Data Plate. Those Briggs body tag numbers can give us a better clue about your car.

Enjoy it.

Here are some more pics. The Body tag was under the front seat.
