1930 RPU gear ratio

Team,

My 1930 RPU seems to have a very high rear end gear ratio. Comfortable cruse speed is about 35 MPH for me in the truck. When the club tours they like to drive about 45MPH. My old truck is really working at that speed.

I need to check the RPM's at speed to really know what shes turning to know if I could really dammage the motor. Just feels to high maybe I'm over reacting.

Is it difficult to change the ring and pinion in a Model A?
What gear ratio's are available?

Mark,

I have a 3.54 rear end in my '31 RDPU and am very happy with it. If you have to make a change I would recommned you go to that ratio.

Some pickups had 4.11 gears maybe you have those .
I too have fitted 3.54 gears in my pickup , Very pleased with them
