Good morning. Would anyone have any insight on how to lower the seat in a a roadster? I love driving mine but I’m a little too tall and my head peeks over the windshield. Even if I hunch down a bit the windshield frame is in my vision.
I hate to hack away at anything just wondered if anyone has run into this issue and had a somewhat non invasive remedy? Thanks, Lenny

You could bring the seat bottom to an upholstery shop and have them shorten it to your needs.

or take some plywood, make a new seat bottom and install 1" very firm foam and upholster.........

Hello, probably making up a new lower seat cushion would be the best option, the lower seat frame is riveted to lower sub frame, to cut and lower it would be a lot of cutting and welding.

Lenny, let me first ask whether you have a Standard or DeLuxe version of your Roadster?

Next, can you post a picture of your seat spring and cover? Likely the cover has been installed incorrectly.

While Ronn is correct with his idea, I am going to offer from experience that 1" thickness of a Cushion is likely going to sit too low for you to be comfortable and still operate the pedals. Additionally, there is going to be a large gap between the bottom of the Backrest and the face of the Cushion. I am going to suggest that you temporarily cut a piece of wood to fit onto the seat riser, and then add items onto the top of the board to replicate the height you feel is best. At that time, you can likely install the Cushion into an upholstery press and compress to that height.

Thanks Brent! It’s a Deluxe Roadster. I may try that because I was worried that the pedals may become a problem if the seat was too low. Also the gap would look horrible but on the other hand I’d rather have it look a bit odd and be more comfortable and more enjoyable.

Hello again, you could extend the lower back cushion with some foam , remove the upholstery , perhaps add some material to retack on
back rest spring?
