1930 Phaeton Vacuum Lines

This weekend I plan to replace the aftermarket electric windsheild wiper with the correct vacuum wiper for my 1930 Phaeton. Having done the same exercise on my 1930 Sports Coupe I'm pretty happy with the manifold to Firewall set up. However I'm not so sure on the set up from firewall to the tube on windsheild post (ie the inside) . Is this rubber tubing and if so how does it attach to the brass firewall fitting . Thanks Karl

a steel line from brass fitting under gas tank across to drivers side makes a turn at a [cowl lacing screw/nut with a clip ] thru another clip behind kick board then to a rubber tube thru the hole in the lower stanchion ,then to a chrome metal tube held on by- 2 clips to windwing bracket that screw into upper Stainless steel stanchion and then to another rubber tube held on by 2 small clamps thats screwed to windshield frame and then to the wiper.... if you have a Bratton's catalog it shows how to run the line.

Thanks I got the Brattons catalog in the last few days (It came with some parts I ordered to restore the wiper) so will look at it. Its probably a rather sad state of affairs but I have never even seen an original Phaeton wiper set up . Everyone seems to go to the electric set up. My experience is that the vacuum set up works just as well with the exception of long up hill climbs and then when you get to much water you just ease of the gas and the wiper clears the screen in a few seconds. The vacuum mechanism also appeals to me in a mechanical sense -I think they are a pretty neat design-Karl
