1930 Paint Question

Even in the "bad" parts of town, ALL the folks are not BAD! And, the "FUZZ" cruise by more often!
Bill W.

The north side is our bad part of town and yesterday a gun fight took place on the street corner, even though there was a marked police car right there. The news showed two cars badly shot up, but I don't recall any mention of the people's condition.

it 9 screws and they will slide right out. thats your best bet .
good luck using paint chips to match the paint not sure how that will turn out.
the paint supply house i use has a digital Spectrophotometer scanner which usually gives a 100%match.

Thank you Mitch, quick question by removing the door this way is there a possibility of alignment issues when reinstalling, being that there are three screws at each bracket I'm guessing there is not.

On the use of the Spectrophotemeter, these guys swear they do better without it and will custom tweak it for a 100% match or I don't pay for it.

Thanks again, really appreciate your help.

here is a pic of the body showing the bevel that the countersunk screw heads go into. you will have no alignment issues going that route. a few times i needed an impact driver to break them loose as an alternative. the suppliers sell new screws and star washers if needed.

There's no way you're going to save any time by taking the door off and hauling it there, rather than just driving the car...no matter where it is or what day of the week it is.
Fix the car, ( or the driver) where you're not scared of it and worry about the few little paint dings down the road.
Its a nice car, drive it ..as is , and be proud! Good Luck.:)

Thanks Mitch...

And thanks Rex, I'm past the fear of driving the car, I bit the bullet and took it for a 70 mile cruise on Sunday and all was great, one of those things where the further I drove the further I had to drive back. The big advantage of taking off the door is that I can leave it with them for a couple days to get the best match allowing them to see the paint dry to further custom tint it...no way would I leave the car there for a couple days sitting in their parking lot that's why I startd back down the road of taking off the door.

As always guys thanks for your help.

Agree with Rex A Lott - if you are concerned that your car is not roadworthy for a 25 mile trip why are you even thinking about a few paint chips.
With a few basic hand tools and a box of spare parts I wouldn't hesitate to take off on a few hundred mile trip in any "A" that would start and seemed to run OK (not perfect, just OK).
My maiden voyage back in the 60's after performing a very amateurish body off restoration (did not rebuild anything - just made it shiny and took a few pounds of gunk out of the oil pan) was a 200 mile jaunt to college starting at 8:30 at night (no cell phones back then). Made it just fine .... never drove the car before. They really are pretty bullet proof unless you try to improve them.
Drive it and enjoy it ...
