1930 Model A PU Bed & Wood Sill Hardware

While my new reproduction 1930 Ford Model A Pickup Bed was in the painter's shop for painting, the bolts and related hardware got misplaced. In the attachment, I have labelled the bolts and related hardware I need to have identified. I believe the information I have listed for bolt reference 1 and bolt reference 2 is correct. If not, please correct.

I would be greatful if the bolts referenced 3 through 7 could be identified with there respective related hardware. I need to purchase replacement bolts and related hardware.

Also, information regarding the finish of the bolts and related hardware, ie, paint color, would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Bob, This is what I sent you via email but the email included photos. If I am wrong then maybe someone can jump in and correct. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Bob,
I know that this can be confusing because the bed has straight sides and the frame is tapered. Basically there are three bolts on each side that hold the wood sill to the bed and another three others that bolt the bed to the frame. But first let’s get the easy stuff out of the way. All the bolts are Raven finish. The holes that you have identified as #’s 6 & 7 are for the rear fender brace bolts. Those are (two each side) 5/16-24x 4 1/2 inches with flat & lock washers plus the nut.
You first mount the wood sills to the bed with 7/16-20 x 2 inch bolts in the holes you have marked as # 1 & #2. The heads are on top and the nuts and washers are on the bottom. I have attached a photo of the bolt head that shows on the outside front of the bed. The original bolt as in the photo has a much taller (thicker) head than the reproduction bolts. As for the carriage bolt it must go in the other hole in the front that you have identified as # 3. I used all original bolts in my bed and it did not have carriage bolts but another 7/16-20 x 2 inch. You don’t really see that bolt and have to use a mirror if you do. My wood sills were counter drilled so the nuts and washers did not extend beyond the thickness of the sill. Needless to say that the beds were assembled with whatever nuts and bolts were on hand at the time it came down the assembly line.
Once the wood sills are mounted to the bed then you bolt the bed box to the frame with six 7/16-20 x 3 inch bolts (3 to each side) they go in the holes you have marked #4 & #5. The front bolt does not go through the wood sill but down the side of the sill and through the hole in the steel bracket what is called the bed front “Z” bracket. I have attached a second photo that shows this bolt and bracket , but mindful that this is a photo of my dry fit prior to painting and the bolts are installed upside down for ease of un-bolting.

I hope this has helped, and if you have more questions just ask.

Thank you Doug for your detail explaintion w/pics-very helpful.
I'm in the process of "pre-fit" my 31 closed pu.
I had fun trying to figure out which end and side of the wood sills I received from Bratton's. No directions....
first timer on model As.

I'm I correct that the orginials were painted? Would it be black?
A few of the picture books looks like they are clear coated.
My truck is a driver, hopefully a lot of driving....next summer.
Thanks again
Phil
