1930 model A pickup with square back?

I'm looking at a 30 pickup and I noticed it has the AA cab. Did any of the small pickups come with the square back?

I know nothing about these and I might be in left field about the AA cab. Go easy on me. Lol
Thanks!

The pickup and AA's used the same cab, fenders and hood.
They used the 1928-29 sheet metal till about June 1930.

Ok so now I'm guessing the 30 in question is an early using 28-29 style cab.
Is it rare? More or less desirable? Than the later 30?

I agree with the others that it’s probably a 28-29 body. For me the more square design looks taller and out of proportion. Some owners put wooden rails on the bed which breaks up the tall square body and improves the appearance.

My truck is an early 30 and has the square back. No expert but I'm wondering if there is less room in the square body? I'm tall and I have a hard time just getting into mine.

The 30 used the square cab until June.If it is a 30 square cab,it should have a quarter turn gas cap,not the threaded 29 style. But,gas tanks got changed so it could still have the wrong tank in it.What makes you so sure it is a 30 to begin with?Paper is not an accurate way of dating things.

That's what the title says. I get that could be wrong. I'm wanting to buy but dont want to buy a "30" that has a 29 cab. If in fact they came this way then I'm ok with buying it

I'm a 53-56 guy and 53-55 cabs are the same and 56 is different. I would not buy a titled 56 with a 55 cab on it. It never came that way

The reason I say paper is meaningless is because in my state they didn't start titling vehicles until 1964.And,the year of the vehicle shown on the title was the year the vehicle was sold in new,not the actual manufacture date.My uncle bought a new 69 SC Rambler,it had sat on the showroom floor until he bought it in 1971.First title was issued in 71,with the year of the car as 71.I discovered this when I bought the car years later. Then it was explained to me how the N.H. title system works.Manufacturer doesn't issue titles, the state does.

I thought the AA cabs and the pickup cabs were identical. What am I missing?

Forget my first post. This 30 I'm looking at has a square corner cab. My question, is this correct for a 30?
Some say it's a 28-29 cab sone say early 30 trucks came with carry over 28-29 cabs. Others say A and AA are the same yet when I google images I find quite a few AA 30 trucks with square back cabs.

Again, I know absolutely nothing about these and it looks to be a deal and I'd love to post pics but I'm too ignorant to figure it out

In a nutshell,

28 through Early 30 A's and AA's used the square corner cab.

~June through End of Production A's and AA's used the rounded cabs.

If someone is selling a 1930 P/U that has a square cab, I wouldn't worry much.

just my $0.02

actually the later 30-31 cabs tend to be a little more desirable. more room and rodders tend to prefer them over the "phone booth" cab.

In the end- which do you prefer?

What Keith True said in post # 10. Early 30 trucks with a square cab that looks like a 28-29, should have a quarter turn gas cap like the “usual” 30-31 gas cap on passenger cars. If it has the 30-31 gas cap, you can be confident it’s a 30. If it has the threaded 28-29 style cap, you can’t be sure either way.

That information is not 100% accurate from my hands on experience.1/4 turn gas caps were used on the 28/29 style tank was introduced in April and used till end of May early June. Please send me a picture of your truck to spdway1@aol.com and I will try to help identify it. I have restored two early 30's, one pickup and one AA. In the market now for another Early 30 AA.
