just got a 1930 ford coupe its apart what i want to know are all model a frames the same size if not how do I measure it and what is the size of 1930 ford coupe frame thanks Raybob in kentucky

The passenger car frames are shorter than the AA heavy truck frames. But you have a standard passenger car frame under your coupe body. Besides the difference in forged versus stamped running board brackets and few other minor early 1928 features, the frames were basically the same during the Model A era. The'28-29 front cross member was higher beneath the radiator mounting points than the '30-31 frames because the '28-29 radiators were shorter. With the taller radiators in 1930-31, the mounting points were lower than on the '28-29 frames.

I believe that the cowl mounting brackets for the slant window bodies were mounted in a different location (farther forward?) for some 1931 frames. Also, 30/31 frame center crossmembers were drilled for the stoplight switch.

Pluck's website has a line item change list that follows production all the way through. Most changes were early in late 1927 and 1928 and there were a lot of them but it didn't change the basic dimensions at all. Any A frame can be made to fit any production body but chassis related changes would require alterations to catch up with a specific year model. Brakes were changed a lot during the first year of production. Changes from 1929 through 1931 were more subtle such as the E-brake cross shaft configuration and the front crossmember. Each subtle change required a small change to the frame as a whole. Bolt hole and rivet sizes were changed fairly early.

The one thing that will make the obvious change is the serial number stamped on the left frame rail. It's covered by the body so it's not easy to look at. Getting a title for a 1930 body on a 1928 frame complicates things more than any little changes between the two frames.
