1930 Cabriolet Front Seat Question

I have a 1930 Model A Cabriolet. It is missing the front seat bottom. How do I tell if my car had an adjustable front seat? Attached is a picture of the wood frame in my car. Also, does anyone have any suggestions on where to order the springs from? I've seen them from several different vendors.

Can't tell from this picture... There is too much "stuff" in the way to see the floor and the base. Look for an adjuster in the center of the base. I think you will find an adjustment screw.

In general, the manufacturer of seat springs for our cars is Don Snyder. He has been making them for years. If anyone has them new, they got them from Don.

I'm told that Snyder's will also make a custom spring for you that is a couple of inches "thinner" than stock, if you want, to get you a bit more clearance between your lap and the steering wheel.

Call Snyder's and discuss.

You still have the wood for the seat bottom. Turn it over. If there is a set of two or four holes in the front piece, that's where the screw adjuster was anchored. There should also be holes in the wood piece running behind the front seat backrest where the other half of the adjuster was bolted down. Odd that as much as you seem to have remaining of the front seat bottom that there isn't still the screw adjuster in place. Not the easiest thing to remove because the nuts and bolts rust, making necessary to either torch them or cut them off. It appears from your photos that you have an earlier 1930 Cabriolet without the adju8stable front seat.

The adjuster and mounting holes will look something like in the photos of a 1929 Murray Town Sedan. I'm sure the same adjuster and anchoring points in the wood are similar.

you have an early 30 fixed seat. if you want to change it over to an adjustable seat. you need to change the package tray all the metal floor panels except the rear rumble seat riser. the late 30 and 31 front seat riser are the same as the late 30-31 coupe. the seat frame itself is the same as the coupe to.
Note the late 31 seat frame is different.
