1930 A Tudor Rear cross member??

My father and I are restoring a 30 A and the rear cross member has been repaired?? at one point. It looks hideous and unsafe! Does anyone have a nice used one they would sell me? Is it common for them to break out across the top, or do you think this damage occurred from abuse? It is cracked all along the top edge where the spring seats in the channel.
Posie's has one that they say will work for an original set up, but I'm told it may not? The entire project is going to be financed by my 69 year old father and he is tighter than two coats of paint! So any help within a reasonable budget would be greatly appreciated!

Finding one local would be your best bet. Where are you located? A post in the Wanted Forum under the Swap Meet section might also be a good idea.
 
Welcome! It sounds like someone beat it severely over some rough roads. There a few places to Check: Local Model A club, craigslist for either a partial or whole donor frame, and Bert's in Colorado.
