On week two of ownership of a 1930 Model Coupe.. Mechanic friend told me to get a basic carb rebuild kit with at least needle valve, seat and gaskets.

Only marking on Carb was "Model X" What brand is it? Is it a Tillotson X? If so will the Tillotson basic rebuild kit A959OT work?

thanks

Yes that is a Tillotson and the kit should work. The Tillotson has been shown in some tests to out flow the Zenith 1 &2 . The Tillotson can be very finicky and run lean because of warpage. You would probably be better off with a Zenith and do the tilly for a standby or a decorator.

Yep, what Purdy said. Additionally, there is a good rebuild pamphlet on Tillotsons that should be in the catalogs along with the rebuild kits. The main reason is for fixing the warpage if you have never been inside a Tilly before. They can be a real PITA, but, if they are right, they run good. Sometimes the main nozzle will not come out requiring it be drilled out and the threads chased. Its also important that the 2 off-idle transition ports be clean.
