My parents go on long trips with the coupe,they use the rumble seat area to store luggage, tools, parts and so on. They have taken out the seat as it is not needed. When it rain, the items inside the rumble seat area are getting wet. ( Yes the lid is closed ) Does any one have any ideas on how to fix the problem ?

Check for leaks in the gutter on the top and sides, the lower edge is made to leak into the curved pan then out drain holes---and the gutters drain there too.
Look for leaks in the gutter, check that the drain path is clear, avoid placing items in the normal drain areas
