For sale a Bonnie Gray with Chelsea Blue and straw stripe February 20, 1929 engine # A1104834 Special Coupe with 12,566 actual miles. Has original Goodyear Diamond thread tires complimented with Shrader 6300 stems and caps. The Ford script on the majority of the hubcaps still remain perpendicular to the valve stems. The front fender eyebrows have been touched up with some lacquer. It has the original 3/32” width straw stripe. Over the years the top has been cared for by gently polishing with black shoe paste and petroleum jelly to keep it soft and shiny like new. It has a flawless radiator shell and no bell around the crank hole cover. The original electric wiper has been restored. The upholstery is unbelievable. Even Bill Sturm was amazed at the preservation of materials over the years. The door pockets are still taut. The cowl panels are mint examples of the Spanish Brown Colonial Grain Cardboard. The floor bobbins are all intact. The mint headliner shows no signs of moth damage or a leaky roof. The brown-worsted windlacings, the brown silk curtain and cord is near new. There is a very small worn spot by the rear window. The paint in the trunk is mint with no damage whatsoever. In the trunk is the original sound deadening, asbestos like cardboard, pasted into the inside of the quarter panels, painted body color. The engine compartment has the original coil, non script junction box and metal conduit, with the original ignition cable restored. The underside of the car is clean with original shocks showing no signs of leakage. There is no indication of wear in the shocks, shackles, springs or brakes. The emergency brake lever is located forward of the gear shift lever as an early 29 feature. This car has a mint red steering wheel with no cracks, powerhouse generator with cutout top side, fluted headlight lenses with single bulb reflectors and a drum tail light. This car got the MARC Originality Award in the first 1981 Judging with top honors. I have a letter from Jerry Wilhelm dated March 15, 2007 that says “Your Special Coupe is the finest low mileage Model A I have ever seen. It was used in a major portion of the research for the judging standards and the paint chip book”. You can view pictures here http://picasaweb.google.com/118033650213440566387/SpecialCoupe#
