1929 roadster windshield pivot not tightening enough

The windshield upper pivot won't tighten enough to hold the windshield when tipped out, and barely has enough holding power to keep the bottom from getting pushed in from wind pressure when driving. I had to keep pushing the bottom edge forward while driving in order to keep the rear view mirror adjusted properly. There isn't anything for the rubber seal on the bottom to push up against that will prevent the windshield from tipping in. The windshield frame is original, stanchions are repro so there might be a fit up issue with the pivot cones. Is there something that can be added to the pivot cones to add enough friction so it holds when the wing nut is tightened ?

I suspect the rubber on the bottom of the windshield frame is the wrong one. It should make a pretty tight seal but still allow opening. Also you can add some washers to the top where the thumb screws are to allow things to tighten better.

Hello, as mentioned in a previous post the angle of repro cones don’t match , so that is probably the problem, usually solution is as per post reply ,add washer to tighten it up , same problem on my 31 .
