1. Can you please tell or show me if the rear floor pan sits on top or down on the edge of the cross frame? 2. What is my extra hole on the drivers side cowl post for? 3. What if anything are the (?) things between the quarter panel inside trunk edge and the rain gutter, welting clips ? Picture 001.jpg

1) The front edge of the rear floor pan should sit on top of the cross rail

2) The extra (lower hole) shouldn't be there in the cowl post

3) Hard to tell from your picture - almost appears that the T-molding that runs the length of the quarter panel on the inside edge is missing - forget if they were rivetted to the quarter panel or spot welded. About the only other things in that area were the screws attaching the drip rail, and possibly the hardware where a truck lid support attached (?).

Thanks for 1 & 2, the third question is the drip rail on the inside around the opening of the trunk is held on by stright slot screws, what if anything goes between the two seams? And it looks like on mine there are metal tacks or something so the two surfaces do not meet togeather tight. I can take better pictures in the am, thanks

Does this help any?

I agree with Randy, it looks like the curved T strips have been removed from your car. The T strips, finish off the joint(s) between the trunk/rumble rain gutters and the quarterpanels. They are supposed to be spot welded to the quarterpanels. I have seen reproduction T strips, pre-bent and straight, in model A vendor catalogs. I would buy the pre-bent type as I think bending them is kind of tough. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. That's why it didn't look right, when you don't have all the pieces and don't even know it, it can be a problem! Thanks

I did notice that the threaded plate is missing or looks to be missing in the upper part of the stantion. Testing my memory but I believe the holes should be 5/15-18. The plate was held in by a large flat head rivet.

I am going to have to get more detail pictures to see what it will take to make the car correct. Alot to learn but that is what it is all about i guess!

I have a stanchion thread plate that came loose on my 29 phaeton, which is the same as a roadster. I don't plan to reinstall the retaining rivet, as I will just hold it in place until the stanchion and stanchion screws are installed. The only reason for the rivet is for ease of installing the stanchion screws. I could take a picture of it and send it to you it you are not sure what one looks like. It is a forged piece of metal that has some irregular surfaces. I am sure Ted met 5/16"-18 as the thread size. I believe he is correct for the size of the stanchion screws. Let me know if you need a picture of the stanchion plate.

BTW, I agree the large hole where the stanchion fits shouldn't be there.
