1929 Model A Starter

My Son-in-law, Grandson and I am in the process of restoring a 1929 Model A Fordor. We discovered that the starter someone installed was from a tractor. We are looking for a starter but aren't having any luck. Does anyone know of websites I could browse that might have a starter for my '29.
I appreciate any help on this..

What make you think it is a tractor starter, I can't think of any that would fit a
model A off hand. How about a picture.

Bob, thats what the guy I bought the car from told me. The starter doesn't have the four bolt holes to mount the switch on top of the starter. Thats what got me to looking for the correct starter. I like the rebuilt one on EBay and will probably purchase it. Thanks for the inquiry.

This is a long shot without seeing the unit but it might be a mid '32 through '34 4 cylinder starter from the description. Early '32 had a starter switch that mounted on the starter with 3 holes but mid '32 through '34 4 cylinder had a switch that mounted to the steering box and there were no holes in the starter body for a switch. I am not familiar with the tractor starters.

kooka,

You should give your general location in your profile and post. Maybe someone has what you need. If you are concerned about someone coming to your house that you don't know, a valid concern, you could communicate via email (I don't thing anyone not in the NSA can trace your address) and not use your phone number (which can be traced to an address). Arrange to pick up the part at a swap meet car show or club meeting. I actually exchanged parts at the local library one time.

Nearly all the major vendors sell rebuilt starters, although most will require an exchange. Maybe you can find one who doesn't. I personally would try that before E-Bay.
