1929 Front Cowl

My 1929 Model A pickup front cowl is rusted away at the base of the side sheet metal. The bottom half of the angled brackets on the inside are gone as well. I have what I believe is the front cowl to a coupe for parts. Can the inside brackets be used on my pickup? They look to be the same from what I can tell, since the pickup brackets are half gone. Want to know before I start drilling and grinding. Thanks.

I am almost 100% positive they are the same. If you drill out one rivet on each side where the subrail extensions are fastened to the subrails, you can remove the whole cowl section once you remove all the bolts and nuts (gas tank and door posts). Someone before I got my 28 special coupe, used a torch and did a number of the subrail extensions by cutting then off just past the subrails. It took a fair amount of time to repair the damage the fellow made, but it looks good now. Depending on how good you are with a MIG or TIG welder, you should be able to repair the rust problems. I would sandblast the whole area first to provide clean metal to work on.
