1929 Forged Front Fender Braces

I need help to get the correct contour to my 1929 forged front braces.

I now have approximately a one inch gap between the fender and the braces where they bolt together.

I want the brows of the front fenders to be at the correct level and not drooped downward as they would be if I were bolt them up now and eliminate the 1 inch gap that exists between edge of fender and the brace.

Both front fenders were bent inward at the bolt area from impacts which makes me think that the braces are bent and need to be bent upward/outward. Do any templates exist for these forged braces?

I would appreciate your suggestions

See if you can buy a single bracket or borrow one from a club member or another local Model A guy. That's about the only way I know. Others will chime in with alternative methods I'm sure. Keep us informed.

Start by checking your frame horns 1st; often the frames are bent and this need to be corrected befort checking the forged brackets. another check is your headlight bar to see if it lines up with the holes in the fender brackets and if so, is the headlight bar level ?

Headlight bar holes line up fine with the fender holes perfectly and headlight bar is level. But if I eliminate that one inch of space between the edge of fender hole and the tip of the brace hole, the brows of my fenders would be tipped down too far. And I have no way of knowing how far to bend the braces upward or outward to get the correct elevation to the fender brows. I see many 29's with fender brows looking awkward because they appear to face downward too far.

The center of the headlight bar and the centerline of the frame are the key points. If the fenders were off the car you can mount the headlight bar to the braces and see if the centerlines are off. then try to get them adjusted where the bar will bolt up easily and the profile of the braces are fairly equal with the centers aligned. Now the frame has to be fairly square to get it right or something else will be off kilter.
