I came across an old stock 29 Ford Coupe that this old timer had. It's been in the Barn Forever and he says the 4 Banger runs but the clutch is Frozen, AKA Stuck. What could I be dealing with here? What is the Fix? Thanks, Jim

You never know. It may be anything as simple as just rocking the car to removing the clutch.
Try rocking the car in gear with the pedal depressed. See what happens.
If that doesn't work, you could put the rear end on stands and run the car while depressing the clutch pedal and stabbing the brake pedal. Some other folks do it by driving the car and stabbing the brakes.
If these don't work, then about the only other way may be to remove the clutch. I prefer to remove the rear end rather than the engine if there are no engine issues.

Buying it might help as a bargaining chip when buying it. But you could get a better feel for things if you could drive it and shift it through all the gears. I'd do as Patrick said. Actually, I'd probably take it out and drive it and hold the clutch in while I stomped on the gas pedal several times to try free up the clutch.

I just had to deal with a stuck clutch on my tractor. My uncle told me to put it in a high gear and drive it with the clutch depressed and blip the throttle and hopefully it will break free. I guess it all depends on how bad it is stuck.

if you are looking to buy there are many things you could do to see if it is mechanically fit. Even with a stuck/frozen clutch you should still be able to put the trans in neutral and listen to the engine. With the engine off and the trans in 1st or second you can try rocking it back and forth which might break it loose. You could put the rear axel on jack stands and listen to the rear end. Depending on your mechanical ability, might be a chance to get a deal and fix it if all other things, body, tires etc etc are in acceptable condition to your needs. This sounds like the vehicle I dream of finding at a fair price, but if the price is high and you have to pay for everything to be done, that is another story. just my opinion, your mileage may vary..Good Luck!!
