1929 Model A Business Coupe. Highly original. In the same condition when parked around 1956. Last registered in ‘56 and still has a 1956 Illinois village sticker on the windshield. The car has never been apart and even still has original body to fender welting in place. The soft top appears to be original. Excellent fenders front and back. It has a brushed on, depression era paint job so typical of that era. Mice had destroyed the interior, so a new interior kit was installed from Classtique in blue hairline fabric. Dash and gas tank as well as door frames repainted in the original Andalusite Blue. New rubber floor mat.
Extensive mechanical work has been done:
New 2 piece crank pulley
New king Pins and spindle bushings
Steering arms checked and reused
Brakes rebuilt on all 4 wheels. Mechanical brakes work very well.
New front brake rods
New leakless water pump
New aluminum two blade fan
New water pipe, petcock and hoses
Cooling system flush.
Rebuilt generator Rebuilt Horn
All new wiring
New stoplight switch and taillight
Rebuilt fuel gauge.
New fuel lines, strainer with filter and fuel shutoff valve
Rebuilt Zenith carburetor
Speedo and cable lubed and working properly
New rear axle seals
New rear hub seals
New gasket and high temp silicone sealer on Exhaust/Intake manifold with gland rings
New gasket and high temp sealer on side valve cover
2 new Lucas tires and 2 near new Lucas tires
I believe the car has the original engine that has not been rebuilt. Runs well for around town driving.
Previous owner installed a new clutch that works well. He also installed a replacement head.
The car does have the usual rust in the real wheel wells. Entire inside sheet metal coated with POR 15.
In my opinion, as well as that of a local Model A expert, the car is in such good original shape it would be a shame to alter the originality with a restoration.
