1929 AA Truck

Hi,
I have a '29 AA stake body that has flat slab doors with wood sandwiched in the inside. They look like Model TT doors. Does anyone have info on this type of cab and if wood is available for the doors? Is this type common and is there a name for it?

Thanks,
Tony G.

I have never seen a flat slab door from Ford for 29. Some after market cabs and maybe some overseas built Fords would be the place to research. A picture would get better answers.

Having a picture would help ... our Pepsi cab is an aftermarket cab ... flat steel on outside ... wood frame on inside .... Ours is called a Brantford cab made in Brantford Ontario .... check out my pictures under pepsi mechanic

Im trying to attach a door photo. This is a test. I hope it works. As you can see it's a Falstaff beer truck.

It looks like an aftermarket cab ... my doors are similar but not the same .. my cab was made in Canada .. I know there was a company in the states that made aftermarket cabs that look similar --- You should post this on http://forums.aa-fords.com they might be able to help you more

Get the book "Ford Truck Owner" by McMillan, it shows most of the aftermarket companies products. I believe a cab with that type of door is shown in there.

Tony,I know that truck! In the mid to late 80's I sold the owner a hand crank dump he wanted to mount on it.The cab is made by one of the custom body outfits, but I don't remember the maker. The cab is a little longer than stock, but I can't remember if that was the one with little quarter windows or not. That may have been another one I looked at.I have tried to find the place a few times over the years,to see if it ever got done or put under cover. The truck was pretty fresh when I looked at it.He had a Warford transmission he wanted to put in,it was laying under the porch.I remember I turned left at Wixon corners to get there, but then I could never find the place again.I always thought it was a neat truck with that custom cab.The Falstaff heads on the stakes were not from back in the day, those were modern and added by the guy who put it together. Was it your dad that had it?Or,did you buy it from the owner.

Hi Keith,
Been a long time since I was chatting with you in your yard.I got the truck from the son of a man in N.Salem, NH. He got it in Texas and it has paperwork / title from Falstaff. There's a close twin in the Texas Transportation museum that was built up but the stake finials are turned brass. So far the only 2 I know that came from the brewery are mine and light duty pickupin Texas. The museum and I believe these were done at Falstaff later for promotional purposes.Im in the middle of a frame up resto on it right now. Great hearing from you neighbor!

I'm glad somebody got the truck and is doing something with it.It was 1986 when I looked at it.It was shortly after he had bought it,and it was parked outside in the weather. It looked to be freshly done at the time.Nice paint, striping, lettering, and wood finishing. He had planned to put up a garage but was backing off because the projected tax bill scared him.At that time the truck was looking at a life outdoors. He did say that his son would definitely leave it out in the weather.I heard stories of it poking out of the snow a couple of years later, but lost track of it after that.I am starting to remember the story he told me of the finials,as you say, being done later. That must be where I got the idea of them being modern. That was 25 years ago this summer, and being a beer truck that was new to him we had to sit in it with some beer to break it in.That alone took a couple of hours.
