Tore down my 29 ..Has 30 over 4 ring aluminum pistons ..Where can I find a set of ring's ?Thanks all

I don't believe that four ring sets have been offered in a long time. What I have done in such cases is use the three ring set and either use the third used ring or leave the third ring out. In other words, use the the top two rings in the top two ring grooves and the bottom ring is the oil ring and must be used in the bottom groove.

It is my understanding that the 4 ring pistons were found to wipe the cylinder too dry which led to excessive cylinder wear. I believe this is why they are no longer produced.

Suggest you consider changing out the pistons to new 3 ring pistons. There are some very good new pistons on the market with a new design and much lighter.

Some of the engine builders that post on this forum may provide some good information.

Slingo, if you don't mind buying outside the USA, try 'JP Pistons' in Adelaide Australia. They did a set of custom pistons for my Durant D60 which were an odd oversize, something like .085" from memory. They fit straight in without any problems, after a quick bore hone. They also provided the rings at the odd size as well as new gudgeon pins. I have nothing but high praise for their workmanship.

I called hasting's they are out at this time but had the advice to use an old one or leave it out...I plan to use the old one...With a 30 orer 3 ring set ..thanks all
