Question on the right-hand window regulator.
I am attempting to put in a new window regulator for the right-side window. The spacing from the two top fasteners to the crank mechanism is about .250 shorter putting the crank mechanism too high in the door. The door will have to be ground out to accommodate the plate, and the diameter of the crank mechanism is a much larger diameter. I'm starting to think i may have the wrong regulator. I assumed all regulators were the same.
Thanks for any info you may have.

The regulators are very similar with the exception that the R/S & L/S are mirror-images of each other. Could that be your issue? And to just conform, your regulator does have 3 mounting screw holes instead of 4.

Ford used the 3-hole types starting late in the model T era (1926 for coupes & tudors) and used them through 1929 on coupes, tudors, & truck cabs and even later for some applications. I haven't purchased a reproduction yet since I tend to restore the originals. I've heard that the ones sold by Snyder's and possibly others, fit pretty well but someone else would have to confirm that.

Yes, it has the three-hole mount and looks just like the one being removed from the car except the wrong location of the crank mechanism and it is a little too thick compared to the one coming out.
First the spring was not attached to the correct location. I'm going to try to use the thicker heavier spring from the new regulator in the old regulator and see how that works.
Thanks for your feedback.

Update on the regulator - The new regulator has the wrong mounting pattern for the 1928 coupe but the spring was much heavier than the original regulator spring. So I exchanged the springs and put the heavier spring in the original regulator, greased it up and it works fine now. Nice to have it working well now.
