1928 drum taillight differences

my coupe has been fitted with 2 taillights.

both are nickel plates drum taillights.

they differ from each other as one has the ‘duo lamp’ letters proud of the drum, the other - the letters are recessed.

Is this because one is a reproduction light, or did they differ from the factory?

thanks for any info on this ‘issue’.

The car was built in San Francisco, so I guess the additional taillight may have come from a swap meet, or …….

I have both raised and recessed lettered drum taillights in my collection. All are from Australian A's. My thoughts are the taillights are from different suppliers to the factory, the same as there are different horn manufacturers.
