1928 AA truck propshaft removal.

Well I am baffled
Anyone out there care to share their knowledge on how to remove the prop shaft from my 28 AA truck.
Have removed all the bolts but am getting considerable spring tension when trying to separate the shaft at each end.
This truck has the auxiliary transmission and the heavy duty diamond T rear diff if that helps at all.

Hello Andy,
If you have all 6 bolts removed from the coupler at the front of the torgue tube there is no reason the complete axle assembly should not be able to be pulled backwards, unless the U-joint is frozen to the shaft.
With the 2 halves of the coupler removed you should be able to see if this is the case, BTW being baffled is not allowed on this board, plenty of help here.
Regards Brian.

Brian, I think he is working on a Canadian AA with the open drive
line and Timken rear axle.

Welcome Andy, it sounds like the drive shaft is binding with the universal joint at the front of the tork tub. Or your speedometer gear my be stuck to drive shaft and won't let you pull the drive shaft out.

not entirely sure why but I am learning that Canadian production had to use the leftover TT stuff such as wooden spoke wheels etc so it is possible the same may be for the rear diff
thanks to Bob C for clearing up the diffs name with nice pictures , they are a mystery up here to us colonials , I personally have only seen one other .
andy.

I don't know how true this is; but I read somewhere that there was a bumper harvest that year and Ford recieved lots of orders for new trucks.
So they bought in some rear axles to help with the urgent back log of orders.
The Ford AA Truck Lovers group on Facebook might help with your question.
Or maybe aa-fords.com forum.

Cheers,
