1928-29 Rear Hood Rod Bracket

Does anyone know if this piece originally came with a shim/gasket under it ??.. I have seen many with & without. If orig, what was it made of & how thick was it..

Snyder's sells them, I think they are .015 thick. They say to add them under the rear hood bracket if the front corners of your hood touch the radiator shell.
