Anyone care to share some photo's of their Special Coupe?

As you found it, in process or finished it doesn't matter... let's see 'em! :)

I now have most of the pieces to put mine together... I'd love to see and hear more about the best processes, trials and tribulations folks have had with all of the wood, nailing on the panels and putting the roof all together.

I need to buy the wood kit yet... so any advise is appreciated.

Lastly... a big thanks to Ryan who knows how to make site's like this work very well for everyone. You da' man.

Here's one I bought a couple years ago, pretty much rust free. i think I'll sell it though, I won't be getting to it anytime soon.

Here is one I had for a few years, and traded for a roadster.

Yes, they should have seen it before when it was a rustbucket. I have some 35mm pictures of it during restoration. Nice picture, great car, I enjoy it. Barry

I found the hardest job was stretching the top material around the back and down to the belt rail. By doing this on a hot sunny day with use of a hair dryer, I was eventually able to get all the wrinkles out. It took a lot of stretching, tacking, and re-stretching and re-tacking.

Hmmm... this may explain why previous owner finished mine in black canvas( a la Sport or Business Coupe ), as opposed to the correct sedan decking...

At the time (1980) the material from LeBaron Bonney was the pebble grained vinyl but the proper material is long/short grain vinyl. Mine had a few little wrinkles that I couldn't get out as Gary mentioned. I did it in the Fall and to stretch the material more would rip it. Some day I may try to pull it more in the hot sun. In the meantime I have it back thanks to "2manycars" and enjoy it.

Barry and I have traded cars back and forth a few times. It gets confusing when we talk to others about who's name is attached to which car.

1929 Special Coupe. My brother gave it to me in 1961 he said that he would never do anything with it. He drove it all over the place when he was in the Air Force in the late 50's. Then it sat in the back field along with a 1928 Special Coupe mine was the best of the two. After high school in 1962 I got it running with the help of my brothers and friends. Backfired so bad one time it split the seam of the muffler wide open had a couple of extra mufflers so put another one on and away we went. After my 3 years with old uncle sam I decide to try and restore it. Will being young and not so smart (Wife doesn't like me saying how stupid I am) I took it to a Restoration shop (I use the term very very loosely):( The only thing that came out real great was the paint job. Barry B./Ma is right the top material was not the long grain and I had to have an upholstery shop cut and sew it for me.Enough already! Richard/Ca

Two different ways to post pic's. The first and the easiest is to click on "Go Advanced", scroll down and click on mange atteachments then click on one of the boxes that says browse and simlpy find the pic on your computer and attach it in the box. Then click upload and wait a couple of seconds and there you have it. The other way requores that the pic be on the internet somewhere and click on the yellow box that has the mountains and the sun. and put the URL in the box that will appear on the screen. Rod

I am rebuilding the engine and if the pictures come out this is an 32 year old armature restoreration. It worked :)Thanks Rowdy
