I bought these off Fordbarn a while back but sold the car so no longer need them. Hard to find NOS folding windshield post! These are chrome and in great shape. Needs studs and thumb-nuts and ready to install. Very rare and neat option. 300.00 shipped in the lower 48

just FYI.. These look to be very nice, but they are aftermarket accessory posts, not NOS Ford issue. Ford never produced folding windshield posts for the '28-'29 open cars. Folding windshield posts were factory supplied for the '30-'31 DeLuxe open cars only.

I would like to see any documention you might have on Ford produced "orchard posts".
In CA windshield posts were cut off by owners to navigate apricot and prune orchards, but this was an owner action...certainly not a Ford produced part.
Think about it...in 1942 or 1951 do you really think a busted farmer would pay for a chrome folding windshield? I don't think so...
Typically they just took the windshield off, posts and all... no need for a windshield in an orchard.
Folding posts for a '28-'29 open car are aftermarket, likely from Western Auto, or one of the early '50's hot rod suppliers like Bell Auto Parts, etc.

The Ford factory issued folding windshield posts for a Model A open car first appeared on the '30-'31 DeLuxe open cars and were stainless steel, not chrome.
>>The listed folding windshield posts are nice, cool, and a rare accessory, but they ain't from the Ford factory; they are aftermarket accessory parts. Enjoy at will.

The word NOS doesn't mean OEM, or made by Ford. It means it was never on a car. He never states that these were made by Ford. He just said they were New Old Stock and a rare old optional part for the 28-29. I don't get that these are being misrepresented in any way.

d is right . I remember when Lebaron Bonney first came out with them . They advertised"At last , what everybody's been waiting for, folding stanchions" or something like that. Also, NOS is taken to mean new, unused parts from the car factory. Sometimes you see NORS for replacement parts made for the cars when new but i'd be p...ed if I paid a premium for NOS and found them to be otherwise.

Chis did not list the posts as NOS "Ford" posts.
NOS means New Old Stock. New, as in new , unused parts. Old stock, as in parts that are no longer manufactured. It can apply to any manufacturer.

Wow, belive it or not.

Yes, they were NOS- new old stock....does always mean Ford's stock.

Regardless these are already sold to someone who wanted them for his Ford...correct or not. Some of you guys need to lighten up.

...but i'd be p...ed if I paid a premium for NOS and found them to be otherwise.

300.00 is pretty cheap for these, try to find another unused chromed set. I just wanted my money back for them. And if you knew they were not a Ford accessory why would you be P...ed if you got them???

wow indeed...so a 4 blade fan from J.C. Whitney or Rick's circa 1978, but never installed on a car is now in your opinion, NOS? amazing.

I have a pair of folding 28-9 W/S posts, EXACTLY like thoses. I ran them on my '29 roadster, for a while.
I bought them, new, in the mid to late 60s. I believe the manufacturer advertised them in "HEMMINGS". They are not period to the FORD roadsters.
MIKE :)

Ever heard of a NOS Trico wiper motor? Or a NOS autolite heater? Or how about a set of NOS bent spoke wheels? Accessories can be NOS or New in their box from 1931 or 1951 and be an authorized or unauthorized accessory not made by Ford.

Again, the term NOS means New Old Stock. Old stuff that is still "new" or unused. It has nothing to do with who manufactured it, or if it was authorized by the car it was intended to go on.

Shesh. I agree with you Chris

I don't have a dog in this fight, but feel compelled to reply anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, the seller never mis-represented the parts as being of Ford manufacture. Furthermore, he provided several nice photos of the parts so potential buyers could assess the parts for themselves.

If the buyer is happy and the seller is happy, who gives a rat's a$$ who made them?

It seems that some folks like to challenge parts for sale ads whether they have any interest in the parts or not. On other fourms that I am a member of, interfering with a sale gets you a 30 day trip to "banned camp".

Lighten up.

OK guys, obviously this is kinnda 50/50 as far as opinions. I do agree that these are not a Ford item, but they have never been installed from whatever date they were manufactured. I do also see the point that some Barner's are making. I am a young guy (29) and own a lot of early Fords. Some of the lingo may be a bit different to me than say a guy who has been in it longer then I have been alive. I don't think I am breaking any rules or falsley advertising them...

The point is, these are SOLD and the buyer is happy. Please lets drop this...if some people wanna continue the debate the FOR SALE section is not the place to do it.

Thanks, Chris
