1925 tudor rear window regulators

Ok.im finally actually getting some time to get back on my tudor.

I had looked in the past for repair parts for my rear side glasses. I have both glass mounted regulator recievers gone and one of the old corkscrew regulators missing. Since these seem to made of unobtanium I am trying to figure out other methods of raising them.

Has anyone modified the wood to accept the much more common26-27 regulators?

I have no problem even builting new hangers to mount the regulator from.

I guess I'm mainly curious if anyone has done this or knows why it won't work.
I hate the thought of those glorious large windows not opening for my little girls to wave out of. One glass weldement has a very large bolt welded to it for the regulator to slide(poorly) on and does not pull it down without manually pushing it down.
Thanks for any help.

I have never been able to substitute any thing that will work properly . I do have a complete rebuilt set of 24-25 tudor window regulators for sale. I'm asking $700 for the set of four.

Thank you for the offer. Honestly that might as well be a million $ for a family man with two small children in daycare. I guess I will have to do some specialty engineering. Wish me luck.

C'mon man... back in the day somebody made them without a lab and a million dollar Korean CNC machining center, no? Ive got a lathe, some milling stuff and a gallon jug of JB Weld. Put a picture up and lets get this going, OK? No charge, but if the judges look up inside with a proctoscope and ding you points for not using un-obtanium yer on yer own! ws

I have new aluminum gear boxes in these. I have the machinist make them up and they arn't cheap, nor do they look like the original pot metal ones, but they work, and should last a long time. The gears and plates were collected over a period of time.

I was able to use '26-27 regulators on my 23 coupe doors which are also hard to find regulators for. I made new upper boards (only because I didn't want to cut up the originals) and some adapter plates from 1/8" aluminum and they seem to work fine. Repro's are available for under $40 each.

So Jack... are these like CNC cut out of billet aluminum? I understand the cost of one off parts and remember a pretty lengthy article on the special ed forum across the hall about these, but unless your doing a special 100 point restoration, Id consider using street rod electric window and regulators etc. Any 100 year ld pot metal has just about usurped its life span and cant be counted on, much like all the beat up speedo frives from the front wheels.
You window guys need the chinaman to make some knock offs thatll at least work.

I seem to remember the old mans 26 fordor sedan with four roll down windows with the two rear side windows having notches that you could lower the lower windows like 1 inch at a time. I know FOMOCO had 300 ton stamping mills for body parts, but some finesse work should really be able to overcome a minimal obstacle like this... ws

Sir,I sincerely thank you and your effort does not go unnoticed. I would love to buy your set if I had the money. I hate being unable to afford proper parts.

I will attempt to do something ...my car is going to be nothing but a driver and my 8 month old and 4 yr old and wife to make all the memories in that I can. My concern is keeping my girls on the right path and involved w family.

Bill...I'm missing everything for one side...its several parts and the other side will likely brake the first time my wife attempts to roll it down.

I think I will just concentrate on the chassis and think and cifer on this subject for further review...

There you go.I was kind of thinking something similar....thanks for saying I'm nt crazy at least

A talented gentleman in Saginaw Michigan has cast some really nice repo's of the front window crank gearboxes out of brass. I purchased two for my 25 Tudor, and i am extremely happy with the quality. I am not sure that the rear gearboxes are the same as the front or not. You can call him at 989-642-8649 (Bob Scherzer). He can tell you if he can help you.
Good luck.

I may give him a call.the main problem is I am missing much more than just the gear box.I may take a look at the other parts and see if I can reproduce them.
And the part that goes on the glass..both are junk and just pure trash.grrrrr i wish I had never seen this car.

Please don't let this discourage you. There are some options. You could just lock them in the up position. I never roll mine down anyway and can get plenty of air from the from windows and by cranking the windshield forward.
Try posting a want ad on this forum for rear window parts. Are you a member of the MTFCA forum. It is a very active forum with lots of Model T experts all willing to help. I'd bet that someone on that forum has or knows where to find the parts you need. Also, be sure and call Bob Scherzer.
