1924 or 25

Is there a way to determined whether a model t is a 24 or 25? The engine dates July of 1925 but the ownership says 1924

Any thoughts?

I've got a '21 body and a '22 engine. My body was a non-electric model and yet the engine has a starter on it. Pretty much figure it's an engine transplant. So the previous owner delayed getting a title to me by about 7 months because he wanted to change the title to match the serial number to a '22. Thing is, by the time he got done farting around the DMV assigned a unique serial number to the car that doesn't come even close to identifying what year the car is. Ok, so to answer your question. I believe it's the MTFCI that provides an encyclopedia of model t changes that occurred from year to year ref: http://mtfca.com/encyclo/C-D.htm#Chassis1. The best way to use it is to find the '24/'25 descriptions and determine whether your body corresponds on one model or the other. Usually the changes are pretty subtle and your car maybe even harder to determine than some.

But just a word of advice; title the car with whatever title you were provided and move on. It probably is a '24 with an engine transplant or a '25 without. Whatever just for your own curiosity learn what your car is if it's important to you but there are very few people other than a few judges that can tell you the difference by just looking at the car.

Now all my advice probably don't mean squat if your planning on entering for judging to see if you can win some kind of plastic trophy. Then you might want to be a little more anal and make sure the engine year matches the year of the body.

Check the right front door post and the firewall posts. The 25's had metal there as Ford was trying to use more metal in the bodies.

Like Garrison says: you have a legit title just go with it and save yourself some aggrivation. No big deal. As far as the body goes it's a tough call. Even Bruce's book doesn't say much beyond the "big change" in body style that appeared in '23 and remained the same through '25. Lowered body, one man top and tilted wind shield. Maybe a pic would help. Some expert might chime in.
