1917 choke wire

Hello everyone. Drove my 1917 roadster today and am having a problem with the choke wire reengaging when I drive about. It is killing the engine performance. Is there supposed to be a spring holding the choke wire back when you don't need it? The only time I pull it out is when cranking. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I have posted a couple pics of the carb with the choke wire attached. I found choke springs on the Lang's website, but I am not sure what type of carb I have. At first, I thought it was a Holley G, but I am not sure after looking at the various types on the parts supplier websites. Can anyone tell what type of carb this is?

Also, how does the choke spring attach? I assume that it fits on the bottom of the choke level opposite the choke wire, but I cannot find any pictures showing this.

Yours thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

It's a Kingston, and there is one choke spring fits all. You have to pull flapper out ,then shaft and install spring. The reverse install everything. Not difficult.

You'll need the staples that hold the plate to the shaft also. Never took an old one off that didn't snap the legs.
