I have been looking at how to replace a broken rear radius rod and it looks like I am in more trouble than I thought! How do you get the necessary clearance around the rear axle to get the new radius rod into place? Does the rear end have to come out from under the car? It would be helpful if I knew what the sequence of events had to be to mount the new rear radius rod. Thanks for your help. Ed

On the later T's with double nut locking at the upper end of the drive shaft , Chapter XVII, Ford Service, shows the steps to remove the rear radius rods. remove the furthermost nut, and back the rear nut with lock washer all the way back to the end of the threads on the rod. Then remove rear wheels, and remove the radius rod nuts and bolts at the backing plate. Turn the brake cam ,after removing brake rod, horizontal, lever facing rear, to allow the fork ends to slip past that brake shoe lever.

Thank you for the information. I did not have the rear wheel removed and I can see that things will be easier coming from the outside and moving the rod up into the proper position. Ed
