19" Denman Tires

I thought I would pass on some experience I have had with a set of 19" Denman Tires I purchased these tires about 2 months ago and have put about 1500 miles on them. I know I have what might be a slight camber problem on the drives side axel and do expect abnormal wear there. However the centers of both tires on the front will be bald in the next 1000 miles or so. I know the outside of the drivers side tire will wear more rapidly because of the camber problem but the tread already has white showing through…I guess this is part of the white wall coming through to the outside:confused: I have check the air pressure regularly and have always keep them near the max.

The 45 year old Wards Riverside tires that were on the front give much better service then the Denman tire. To say the least I am out over $300.00 for these junk tires and will have to cough up another $300.00 or so long before the summer is over. BTW the Firestones on the rear seem to be doing ok they have nearly 5000 miles on them and still look good.

I regularly get 30,000 miles out of a set of Firestones on my '30 45B Coupe and it appears that the Goodyears on my '31 40B Roadster will do as well. Both of course have 19 inch wheels. The 21 inch Firestones on my heavier 155A Town Sedan will not make 25K. I do rotate the wheels and, at half life, I "rotate" the tires inside out on the wheels. Gar Williams

Are there any other opinions on the 2nd string tires, not the Firestones or Goodyears in (19") there are Lucus, Bedford, B.F Goodrich, etc .

I see a Michelin called the D.R. but can only find it at http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/index

Many times I have seen Pics of a tire on "A"s I think, that has a maze type of pattern on the tread portion. Doe's anybody know the brand. I would like to replace my 40 year old Garfields but they still look pretty good for local ice cream runs.

I have Excelsior on my touring coupe 28 with 21" tires and they are wearing like Iron.. Still have some of the nubs on the tread still and i have 3,000 miles on them.. I would expect to get 30,000 miles from them if all continues to go well

I had 21 " Excelsiors on my 28 phaeton when driving round Australia, had persitent problems and must have put in 6 new inner tubes before throwing the Excelsiors away and getting Bedfords- ok since and no problems from Firestones ever.

How about the Lucus 19" blackwall. At $65 each they are a deal if they wear well. Anyone purchased and used these tires? Thanks in advance.

DROOBIE: I believe those were the kind the gentleman from california had on his A who toured the US last year. If I recall he had nothing but trouble, either with the tires or the tubes. Maybe he or someone else will chime in.

I have B.F. Goodrich 19" on my Town Sedan....they are probably about 15 years old, but no cracks, and I have about 7,500 miles on them with minimal wear. They came on the car when I bought it, and I have been very happy with them.
