16" taxi tires

After looking at a lot of 16" tires, I decided on the tires made for the London taxi's. They are advertised as being made by Austone and by Dunlop. Since they are shown on the Dunlop web site, I assumed that both were made by them. Turns out that Coker has bought the rights, etc. for them, and they are not being made, anywhere! So, back to the drawing board!

What size are they? There are a lot of sources for tires besides the big ONE. I'm also looking for 16 inch tires.

Gentleman: these tires have a numerical/industry size. For instance,6;00x16. This is what I'd like to know to check wholesale sources. Thanks!

Jim K., Universal is one of the places where I looked, but they are not actually available. They are listed as 175R16, no other info as to tire size. Coker makes a 6.00x16 radial and I suspect they bought others out just to corner the market??? I don't like the look of their tire so hopefully will find something that I like better.

Good luck trying to find "non-antique" sources for 6.00 x 16 tires...

I tried about 15 years ago when I got my 1941 De Soto, and found there was nothing available except through Sears (at that time - Goodyear All-Weather Diamond Treads), Coker, or Universal.

If you do find a source, let us know....
