Anyone know a source for a set of .002 rod bearings for my 53, 239

It seems .010,.020 etc. are readily available.

Any help appreciated
thanks, bud

If you need .002" undersize bearings, My question is, Why? Is the journal round? They don;t ware that way. Have crank turned to next standard undersize.

I got this 53 Customline in pieces from an elderly friend who was never going to finish it.

Its my first Ford and was hoping to get it running so we could do some cruising, unfortunately he passed away and I sort of lost interest in it. It still needs a lot of work. I still am not sure I'll finish it

I put the engine (supposed low mile rebuilt) in and it runs good, no noise, smoke, good oil press., when it gets warmed up it loses oil pressure and has a slight rod knock.

I pulled the pan down, very clean, the bearings are standard, showing a little copper, detected a slight wiggle, mains looked like new,

The reality is I am trying to be cheap and don't want to pull the engine again.

I know this is a roll of the dice and not proper procedure.

Thanks, Bud

You can shim the bearings... Switch to top and bottom insert, use a micometer to measure... There is shimm stock that is used/ made for this, and I've heard of using paper...
You can use shim stock, or paper to check bearing clearances- if you're careful, it's more accurate than plastigauge...
I would start with new bearings in any case.
