Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

There are many more benefits to membership than jusy getting the magazine. Do yu belong to a local club? If it had an affiliation with one of the national clubs then it is providing insurance for all your functions. This is one reason why all members of local chapters should belong to the national club that SUPPORTS them.

Pete expressed some dismay with the publication but I am sure he is aware that without much of the research that has taken place with support from the national club Model A's would not be restored to such exactiong standards.

Like others said it is the post office. So no matter what organization you join you will not receive their publications in a timely manner.

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

After this last issue i was thinking the same thing[dropping out] again!. There was more on Fashion Judging then car judging. More showed up for Fashion ! Maybe MAFCA should go out for that then cars! Again had to drag 8 or 9 cars out of the parking lot to make a showing of show cars. [must be the judging i hear!]

mafca has to appeal to all aspects of the hobby. Fashions is a big part of the hobby for a lot of people. I for one have had zero interest in fashions, but i do respect the amount of time and effort that goes into it.

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

Well I guess I should throw out all the Magazines that I have collected with the Original Model A ads in them, Including the Town cars & Station Wagon.. (several of each)..

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

my god why would you blame the company the EDITS the magazine... Drop out if you wish, but please come up with a better excuse as being MAFCAS fault that YOUR YOUR YOUR Local POST office does not deliver YOUR MAIL.....How in the world can it be a company in California that you blame, Wake up people and at least say the dog ate it, it makes you sound a bit more intelligent!
PS Pete. Fashion is a part of this hobby, the part for women, you know the other half that helps support US in our hobby, so explain that problem to me now also!
JMHO!!

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

I'm truely missing something here ! Heck it's only a magazine....Go to your local news stand and get another one ! Maybe you put them under your car to catch the dripping oil.Bovar
Bovar, which news stand do you get The Restorer from?

just curious.......

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

According to info in the restorer mentioning # of copies printed/mailed, distributed, it gives a # for retail/vendor sales.
Paul in CT

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

Hello Mark M. ,, Fashion at one time took up 1/2 or 1 page of the magazine,Now sometimes upto 4 pg. I joined the club Marc in 1974 and Mafca 1977 because i wanted to read and learn about he Model "A" FORD and not how they dressed when going out to dinner in 1928,29, 30 or 31. If they need to fill up a magazine i rather see them bring back old technical info or even better yet updates on Judging Standards instead of waiting every 10+years on changes. Every Year A.A.C.A. has a sheet with updates to Judging changes... And guess what it works.. Better that way then waiting to place the correct pop-out in a car or your restoring a car now and want the correct valve stems installed [to find out 2 years from now they will change and they knew about the change 3 years ago]. Why wait ,put a pull out update sheet in the Mag.???? rather Fashion

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

Maybe they could come out with a separate magazine with just "A" era fashions. That way they could see much interest there is. LOL

That is something BOTH clubs should do together...this fashion thing. But then, it would cost each club more money in the long run to do such a venture.

Pluck

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

OMG! Jack29-you're cancelling your membership and withdrawing your support because a magazine is late? Peters180-you're pissed because a minor portion of a publication is devoted to something you are not personally interested in? I'm guessing most subscribers aren't into either fashion or your aspects of judging, but are pretty much fans of things Model A in general. The magazine needs to address everyone's interests. You guys are theoretically supposed to be grown-ups. Quit your whining;go outside and play; do something constructive to make the world a better place. Good grief.

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

I just wish they would have more on mens era fashion. I read the restorer from cover to cover several times. I also wish it was every month. I just can't get enough.

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

Hey, lets all call in sick from work on Weds 11-17 (those of us who still work) hide in the bushes for the Postal carrier, when they get to our house we could run out and kick him right in the butt for Jack and peter180A and MAFCA and Popular Science with the sticky pages from years ago. Are you guys with me, Huh!!!

Re: Bye, bye, MAFCA

My postal carrier is female, she used to feed my dog special biscuits when he was alive and she brings my copy of the Rodder's Journal up to the house and puts it on the inside porch to keep it safe. I don't always get everything but the problem is not your carrier it's further up the line.

5window, VERY well said & enough said.. Subscribers will get the magazine when the USPS decides to deliver it to you.. It is not the clubs fault.. Did we not just go thru the same issue with the other clubs magazine ??.. & NO as of 11/14/10 I dont have mine..
