if i understand - you have no working choke? if it starts up fine cold without a choke that suggests to me that its running very rich, which would also mean that once warmed it will not start well is it is the same "too rich" conditions.

My 55 power steering system shuddered on tight turns when first acquired and leaked a bit (bound to happen after 60+ years), but after a rebuild it's been great. never even give it a thought anymore. Also my Saturn was unstoppable, so.... *shrugs*

Didn't see anyone else mention it, but as memory serve practice was in the day to use a 160 thermo in the summer and a 180 in the winter (in places like the dakotas!). Pretty sure my 292 also has a 160 degree thermo.

I have the manual on the left. I dropped it off and the tools with my guy to go thru to help him understand the procedures and test. Fingers crossed he feels comfortable doing the work; not sure what i would do without him!
