    Warford Aux PTO Transmission

For Sale: Warford auxiliary transmission. 3 positions: 1:1 - N - close to a 2:1 reduction. I don't have much for history on it, but it looks to have been recently rebuilt / super cleaned. I've had the cover off and the inside looks great, no chipped teeth or any obvious wear. I was...

Mitchell is a no-go, they said they do not have a kit for the 1-1/2 ton.

1-1/2 Ton Transmission / Overdrive / Gearing Options

So I picked up a parts chassis this past fall to support my 1936 1-1/2 Ton Dump. One of the selling points was the included Warford Auxiliary Transmission. I was really hoping it was going to be an overdrive transmission because my dump truck clocks in at a whopping 40 mph in 4th gear. Well...

    Warford Secondary - Educate Me

BOOOO, it's an underdrive :( And of course they tease me with having the input and output shafts the same splines... Makes me want to turn it around. Any other options for faster gearing?

Finished - Custom 20x10 Super Singles For My 1936 1-1/2 Ton

I had 2 quotes from wheel manufactures and they were $500 and $900 per rim + shipping. I was able to fabricate mine for $325 each. As for the weight I opted for a heavy duty rim hoop as well as 1/2" plate for the center. They weigh in at 135lb / assembly. I didn't have a chance to weigh my...

Finished - Custom 20x10 Super Singles For My 1936 1-1/2 Ton

I'll say, another decision maker of the whole project was I couldn't find "off road style" tires for the dually. The only reproductions available (that I could find) are the firestone highway tires. I frequently use this truck to get cordwood and dirt. I'm alway off in soft ground and those...

    Warford Secondary - Educate Me

I've done a little bit of searching and I didn't really see any pictures of this particular model Warford secondary transmission. I have a few questions: How do you remove it? I've never had the pleasure of working on early Ford closed drive shafts; Any pointers how to take them apart...

Finished - Custom 20x10 Super Singles For My 1936 1-1/2 Ton

Some of you may remember my story from last summer: I was getting hassled by the local boys-in-blue because my truck needed to be registered commercially if I ran it as a dually. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1644486#post1644486 Long story short I opted to go with a set of...

1936 Model 51 Dump - GVWR - Commercial Reg. Issues

I got motivated this past weekend and pulled 2 of the rear tires. After that I was able to get the truck to pass regular car inspection. This means I can use it as a daily-driver and haul whatever I want. Next step will be sourcing / building the super singles for the rear.

1936 Model 51 Dump - GVWR - Commercial Reg. Issues

I was hoping the antique status / plates would be the loophole, but according to the "helpful" people at the DMV, it does not. That's where I hope my insurance guy can dig a little deeper and find someone more knowledgeable than the girl at the front desk. The only other issue I have doing the...

1936 Model 51 Dump - GVWR - Commercial Reg. Issues

Good afternoon everyone. Having just overcome the overheating issue in my truck I though I was finally on the right path for this summer. That was till Johnny-Law decided to flex his muscle and ruin my day. I was informed by a local officer that because my truck is a "dually" it needed to be...

Cooling Problems, where to go next?

Sorry for the slow response, been busy with a few customer projects and a family vacation. Anyway I have an update: I back flushed the radiator as well as the block, I got some sediment, but no smoking gun. I also used a borescope to inspect the water pumps, no missing impeller fins or...

Cooling Problems, where to go next?

When I did the vinegar flush it wasn't too dirty, but I also may have errored; after flushing I only drained using the block drain ****. It was pretty rusty / dirty when I pulled the lower hoses yesterday. There was some water flow with the cap removed, I have nothing to compare it too when I...
