Hi- Yes you are correct. I did trim the top and bottom rubber inserts down to where they just stick out in front of the metal clips that seat them. It did not make any difference. I also tried coating the rubber with silicone which did not help either.

There is new rubber behind the metal curved receptacle. But it may be contributing to the squeaks. It's hard to pinpoint while driving down the road...

I see in the Judging standards that the 1929 water pump has no grease fittings. But before in 1928 and after in 1930-31 it did. Was the lack of fittings a problem with water leaking out?

You were right, some TLC did the job. I placed a second flat washer under the Cowl hood rod support on the driver's side and was able to adjust the radiator rod nuts up front to align the hood. All was well until I filled the radiator. That was when I discovered a leak in it's gasket. But now...

Aligning the model a ford hood on my 1929 coupe. My hood is 1/2 inch away from the cowl on the passenger side and 1/4 inch away from the radiator shell on the driver side. Any suggestions? Jeff

I have a 1929 standard coupe built in July of that year. I was told the round step plates for the rumble seat were painted black in 1929 and left shiny silver colored for 1930-31. Is that correct?
