    Thanks for the response. I think I know where you are going here. So, if I wanted to do some "trial and error" timing by rotating the dizzy a degree or two, it would be okay. Then I could optimize my timing.

    You will not gain speed with more HP alone. Expect the additional horsies to pull more gearing. With HP and gearing you will get the additional MPH.

    Stock motor with 750x16 rear rubber on '40 steelies runs 56 mph on dead flat measured by GPS.
