1939 Ford 3 speed top loader help

Hey guys. I’m finishing up rebuilding my 39 3 speed top loader & I’m having issues with the gears getting tight & locking up when I tighten the bolts down on the rear bearing retainer. I can’t for the life of me figure out what is happening. The gears rotate smoothly & work properly, but as soon...

    Looking For 8BA Flywheel

Hey guys. I’m looking for a usable flywheel for my 8BA if anyone has one that they are willing to part with. It has the holes on the outer edge of flywheel. See the picture for reference. It is the flywheel on the right. Thanks Josh 909-896-3558

Here’s the flywheel that was posted previously showing that the jokes go all the way through. Maybe I’m not understanding what you meant by the holes.

Mating an 8ba with a 1939 trans help

I have another flywheel that is attached to a crank still. Also the flywheel from the previous pictures actually has holes that go all the way through. Maybe neither will still work. I try to submit the photos. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks Josh

Mating an 8ba with a 1939 trans help

Thanks Coopman. I really appreciate you posting the pics as well as going through the effort of identifying the components in the pictures & labeling them. So know that the photos have been posted & you can see what I have, 1. Can I use the gears out of the side shifter in my 39 top loader? 2...

Mating an 8ba with a 1939 trans help

Ok. So here’s some more craziness to add to the mix. So I have a 1939 3 speed top loader 78-7006. Can I use the gears from the side loader trans (see photos). I’m not sure what year trans it is. I’m having a hard time reading the numbers & deciphering off of van pelt sales what the side loader...

Getting my 1931 Model A Coupe go start

Yes. I got it running. Thats interesting that you guys are talking about the head gasket. I actually noticed some smoke coming out different areas of the head gasket & also seemed like the gasket was bubbling from heat, almost like a gasket wasn't used but instead some kind of tar. I don't...

Getting my 1931 Model A Coupe go start

Hey guys. I've finally had some time to mess with my Coupe today. I finally figured out that the coil was bad. Interestingly enough, whoever had the car 2 owners ago mounted a second coil to th firewall. Not sure why he did this, but as luck would have it the second coil created spark. I put...

Getting my 1931 Model A Coupe go start

Hey guys. I bought a new battery today. Installed it, pushed the couch in, hit the starter button & she turned over a bunch of times. It was the old battery. Weird how my charger would charge it & show fully charged as well as the volt meter showing over 6v. Oh well. It's all water under the...

Getting my 1931 Model A Coupe go start

Ok guys. Sorry for the long delay. I finally had a chance to pull the starter. Took a little bit more than 3 bolts. Ha ha. Had to disconnect to the switch & I also had to remove the coolant neck on the side of the motor. I couldn't get it out without doing so. Oh well. Anyways I finally got it...
