    battery disconnect switch

This is a pic of a switch I had on my 04 Dodge pickup, the culprit (or one of them) that is guilty of being a failure. I use the truck very little and suspect I have a parasitic drain (which I cant find) as well as the normal draw these trucks take when parked. The clamping area would...

So do we set the regulator higher or lower than the target 7.2 when the cover is off?

    Heater core leak

Slightly of topic but just a note about sealers. I could not find the old go to, Bars Leaks in my local store so I grabbed a alternate of the shelf. It could best be described as 1/4" long thick hairs and the product did stop the rad leak. However when the rad pressure cap did its normal thing...

    Overdrive won't kick down

Does the OD function correctly in all other ways other than the lack of a kickdown? The ford shop manual for the 49-51 has a diagnosis procedure on page 305 on this very issue?

Lowest workable rear end ratio with 1950 Merc

1950 Meteor, stock 239, 3.88 gears, 27" tire diameter, stock overdrive. Most of our travels to shows here are 1-3 hour drives at 65-70 mph. It is quiet, easy on gas, and it takes a big hill to ever have to use the kick-down. I am not sure I would keep it if it did not have the overdrive.

    1951 Heater

I do not know if the valves are reproduced anywhere. Ranco made these valves for other manufacturers as well. First you have to have the valve. My info came from a Ranco search and here is a good link to the repair process, courtesy of a Studebaker site...

    1951 Heater

You are missing either the heater core or the control valve. You could add a manual flow control valve on the head and skip the cable controlled valve. There is a rubber diaphragm in the control valve that fails and it then leaks. Although it does not look like it it is repairable (chebby parts)

My apologies to Alberta50fordor; 32phil is correct about the keys. Old brain sometimes malfunctions.

    1950 glove box latch/lock removal

Do you have the key, it should be the same as the ignition unless something has been changed.

Advice on: F-1 Gas Tank change

If you get in a big enough accident to cause major damage to the tank behind the seat you are likely toast; tank or no tank behind the seat.

    51 Ford Transmission interchange

Turning the trans mount around on the 49-50 will provide for installing the overdrive rather than the 3 speed trans. I do not know about the 51.

installed weather seal in trunk of 1950 Ford but can't get it to close

The u shaped piece on the pinch weld on the body is badly out of place in the bottom RH corner. I do not know if you tried to close the trunk when it was that way? This is the normal poorly fitting shoebox trunk lid. Adjust the latch a little at a time and leave closed a few days between...

    50 f2 bed

The seal you are referring to sits between the wood decking and the side of the box. From remnants of one piece I have the closest thing you could use is fender welt and trim it to fit. It was a cosmetic piece to hide the gap between the wood and the box side. It also served to collect crap in...

    1950 sedan rear end help

rockabilly be aware (you probably already are) that you will likely get oil leaking along the splines between the pinion and the yolk. RTV behind the washer and pinion nut will cure it.

    1950 sedan rear end help

Check page 105 of the manual re pinion seal replacement; it can be done without removing the diff. The manual suggests using a special tool to remove the seal but any sort of tool/tools to gouge it out should work?

I need to pull the speedometer Head from the dash...

Pls check your sources Als48. The entire instrument cluster removes from the back of the dash on my 50, it will not go out the front. The speedometer head is screwed into the back of the cluster, to be removed from the back of the cluster. I did loosen and pull away the dash from mine to access...

1953 Ford 4 door rear vent window weatherstrip

Scottyboy; I wish you luck on locating the rear vent seals; I did that dance for a couple of months with little success. Phone conversations with the DC people in the "rubber room" did not even work. There data said they would fit and said the problem was it was a CDN Meteor. I have heard that...

    '35 gas tank yuck

Muriatic acid will take the rust out but you will find it only marginally effective if it has not been degreased prior; any type of degreaser will do. Do not breath the fumes, do not do it on concrete you want to keep, wear rubber gloves and old clothes, do not cause a splash. When the rust is...
