How to install door lock cylinder

I dripped some melted candle wax on the square connection to the lock that made it rigid when you insert it in. The wax breaks off the minute you turn it.

Redoing my hydrostatic fuel gauge with new red liquid

It's been a while, but I think I have finally gotten my hydrostatic fuel gauge to work properly. I had previously reported that when I cleaned the gauge and tank unit and put new red liquid in it worked fine, but that when I filled the tank up at the gas station that it blew the red fluid out...

    Red dye for gas gauge

I bought the stuff from straight eight. It was in a very small bottle and faded. The stuff from Renner's is a much larger bottle and has a nice fitting to squeeze it into the gauge. I recommend Renner's.

How does one install the 1933 grill V8

This thread has a description of how I mounted my V8 Emblem on my Grille for a 34 without disassembling anything. Used a 9 mm articulating ratchet wrench. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=262086

Redoing my hydrostatic fuel gauge with new red liquid

Glenn, Thanks for your continued thoughts on this. That vent tube is one of the larger diameter tubes, so seems less likely to be blocked, but it does end in that closed compartment inside the bell that you cannot access or see inside of. When I first pulled the tank unit out it was covered...

Redoing my hydrostatic fuel gauge with new red liquid

Glenn, I did clear that small hole in the bottom bell (cup). If you look at the 6th picture on post 25 where my hand is holding the tank Unit, you can see the bottom of the lowest cup and the hole. Poked wires in it and shot compressed air through it. The gauge seemed to work correctly since...

Redoing my hydrostatic fuel gauge with new red liquid

I did try to clean the tank unit to the best of my ability using lacquer thinner, a wire brush some bottle brushes and wires for the thin pipes. Posts 25 and 33 show my results - not nearly as clean as yours, Sheldon but I believe all the passages were open and should have been functional. I...

Redoing my hydrostatic fuel gauge with new red liquid

Glenn, The tank was not completely empty. Gauge showed was between 1/4 and E. I purposely filled it to a lower level than I used to do knowing the blown gauge problem in the past. Once the gauge is blown, there is no longer any red liquid in the gauge to register any level. I would have to...

Redoing my hydrostatic fuel gauge with new red liquid

Well, I finally used enough gas to need to fill up. The gauge was telling me that I was between 1/4 and empty and seemed to be reading accurately. I put the pump nozzle in as far as it would go and stopped pumping when the level hit the automatic shutoff on the nozzle. It took 7.8 gallons...

    1946 Ford Fordor project

Thanks, Not seeing pictures must be something with the computer I was using. I tried logging out and back in and still no photos. I tried another computer and I see them on that machine.

Redoing my hydrostatic fuel gauge with new red liquid

An update on my fuel gauge. I just picked the car up today after being in storage for 6 months. The gauge was still reading near full after sitting for 6 months, so it seems that may actually have the thing finally functioning properly. The final test will be filling the tank with gas once I...

1935 gas tank sender cleaning suggestions

When I cleaned the tank Unit from my 34 last year I used lacquer thinner and a wire brush. It was mostly just a black buildup on the Unit, which is all brass. I used small brushes and wires to try to get what I could in the tubes. Then used compressed air to make sure the tubes and small...

Dads garage back in the early 40's

Here's my Great Grandmother's Hot Dog Stand and Gas station on Niagara Falls Blvd. in Amherst NY in the early 1920's, next to their house. She sold Socony gas, oil, hot dogs and snacks to tourists driving to Niagara Falls. The second photo is my father and his dog Gyp with his grandmother at...

    Who made this truck?

Grille looks the same as the Glacier Park Red Busses made by White. Of the existing bus fleet, 17 are from 1936, 11 are from 1937, 4 are from 1938 and 1 is from 1939. Ford donated over $6 million to renovate the 33 buses, which were originally built in the 1930s. The buses received new...
